We did it, John!

We’ve been asking for your support for expanded background checks for years. Tens of thousands of you submitted letters to Congress, signed petitions, and even wrote to the Attorney General last November.

Just this morning, we got the breaking news — we won.

New York Times ripped headline: Biden Administration Approves Expansion of Background Checks on Gun Sales

The new rule is the first of its kind in 30 years. It will require thousands of firearm dealers to get licensed and perform background checks, preventing fewer people who intend to do harm from slipping through the cracks and keeping us ALL safer. This life-saving win is because of your advocacy. Thank you.

We’re all celebrating today, but we can’t let up now. The NRA and other special interest groups will want to fight back, and there are still a number of loopholes to close in the background check system. Our team is working to protect our hard-fought victories and push for more gun safety legislation.

When we come together in action, we save lives. Chip in now with a monthly gift to help us win the next big fight to end gun violence.
