Hi John,
We want to ensure you saw the new Wall Street Journal op-ed from our CEO, Nancy Jacobson. Nancy lays out what we learned from our 2024 Unity ticket project and what it means for our movement and millions of commonsense Americans going forward.
Nancy identifies the essential barrier that stood in the way of a Unity ticket emerging:
“The difficulty of attaining ballot access in all 50 states wasn’t it. Neither was the data, which revealed a historic and viable lane for a third-party option. The trouble was that no one was willing to take the hellish job we were offering… We needed a leader of extraordinary bravery. Instead, we came face to face with the problems we were seeking to solve, including a system hostile to innovation and competition.”
Nancy also identifies how both Democrats and Republicans have drifted from the priorities of the commonsense majority, writing:
“The Republican Party is now the party of Mr. Trump and will be as long as he is alive. The Democratic Party has turned so hard to the left that a majority of the policies Bill Clinton supported when I worked at the Democratic National Committee—stronger policing, a balanced budget, welfare reform, a crackdown on illegal immigration—would be considered far-right today.”
This has left tens of millions of Americans feeling political homeless. No Labels’ role is to provide that home. As Nancy writes:
“Our mission is what it has always been: to find and elevate extraordinary leaders who put country over party. Our late co-founder and friend, Joe Lieberman, was the quintessence. He once said that “to govern this country, it takes more than anger. . . . It takes positions that reflect the best values of the American people.”
