Hey there, it's Johnathan, Deborah Ross' campaign manager. Did you read her email yesterday? Spoiler: There's an adorable photo of the Congresswoman as a kid.
Deborah's working hard to fight for ALL of us — including kids and childcare workers. She wrote about it in her latest email, which I'm forwarding below. Please give it a read and consider chipping in any amount you can to support her campaign: [[link removed]]

Hi there, Congresswoman Deborah Ross here.
I've been reflecting lately — about this re-election campaign, my love for North Carolina, and the work I do as a member of Congress. In particular, I've been thinking about the girl in the photo below. Before I get into my thoughts, will you chip in $ to support my re-election campaign in this critical battleground state? If you're unconvinced, that's okay! But I'd love for you to keep reading. [[link removed]]

The photo above is me from long before my career as a civil rights lawyer and public service in the North Carolina General Assembly and Congress. But this serves as an important reminder of why I do the work I do — for our kids. They are the building blocks of the future.
In the face of increasing childcare costs and senseless gun violence, it's more important than ever to pass legislation that ensures children are supported and protected. That's why last month, I helped pass minibus funding packages — which included a $1 billion increase for early childhood education programs.
Last week, I held a roundtable discussion with Smart Start leadership at Raleigh Nursery School to discuss the shortfalls in childcare resources within our community. I'm proud to have brought additional funding for early childhood education programs — but there's a critical need for even more resources. And without additional funding, nearly 30% of childcare centers in North Carolina could close.
Legislators need to do right by our children, and that's why I'm shining a light on this issue. I'm running for re-election because we need strong leaders that will fight for our kids.
The 2024 election will be critical to whether or not Congress can bring progress to North Carolina — or deal with yet another term of gridlock and dysfunction. North Carolina is a critical battleground, and that's why it's crucial that my team and I have the resources we need to hold this seat and flip the House blue.
Can I count on your support of $, $, or just $3 to support my re-election campaign? [[link removed]]

In 2020, Deborah became the first Democrat in over a decade to be elected to represent North Carolina’s 2nd Congressional district. In her first term, eleven pieces of legislation she introduced were signed into law. These measures increased funding for sexual assault nurse examiners, enhanced judicial ethics and transparency, and bolstered North Carolina’s offshore wind energy potential. Deborah needs your support to continue the fight for fairness, equality, and progress. Let’s do this together.
