John, Thank you so much to every single person who has followed this campaign, volunteered, and donated. It is because of incredible supporters like you that we are on track despite the new challenges of campaigning remotely. To reach voters digitally, we have launched our program to contact voters by text, with dozens of trained volunteers eagerly reaching out to our community. We will be ramping up our phone outreach alongside increased communications online and in the mail. Thanks to the support of our incredible volunteers and donors, we’ve been able to transition into this new strategy. The strategy has changed, but the reason for this campaign has not. It is clearer than ever that we need new leadership in Congress. Our government is not doing enough to help people put food on the table and pay their rent. Unemployment claims reached 6.6 million, and most people can't even get through on the phones to figure out if unemployment benefits are an option. Even with the passage of the stimulus bill, countless people in need won't qualify, and we don't know when we will receive the funds. Finally, a $1,200 one time check is not going to cut it for most Americans out of work. Fortunately, neighbors are filling in where our government has failed. We are in an unprecedented situation for this generation, and I have not only been amazed by the support people have shown this campaign, but also each other in their time of need. New York City is being hit so hard with this pandemic, and it is heartbreaking to see. It will get worse before it gets better, but we can each do something to make sure our friends and neighbors have what they need.
