Arizona’s 160-year-old abortion ban that was brought back to life this week is so extreme that even Donald Trump and Kari Lake were forced to backpedal.

But a lot of people on the far right celebrate this ruling as paving the way for a nationwide abortion ban – including the people behind Project 2025.

If you haven’t heard: Project 2025 is a 900 page document prepared by the Heritage Foundation and proudly advertised as the presidential transition plan for the next Republican president.

Here’s a SHORT list of what’s included:

* Mass purge of over 54K experienced civil servants from our federal agencies to be replaced with pre-screened, die-hard Trump loyalists
* Shutting down the Department of Homeland Security, Department of Education, and Department of Commerce – eliminating those cabinet positions and concentrating power in the president
* Reducing the number of generals and other high level commanders in our military and hurting our military readiness
* Nationalizing state and local police forces to report directly to the president through the Department of Justice
* Imposing a national abortion ban and limiting access to contraception
* Classifying literature that even mentions the existence of LGBTQIA
people as “pornography” and charging librarians as sex offenders

This plan is a blueprint for American fascism written FOR Trump or someone just like Trump. If we let Republicans like Lauren Boebert keep control of Congress they will push every one of these policies through – and worse.

I didn’t serve 18 years as a United States Marine defending democracy around the world just to come home and hand the keys to a bunch of fascist clowns.

The only thing that stopped Donald Trump from pulling off a coup on January 6th was a handful of public servants who wouldn’t give him what he wanted.

Trump won’t make the same mistake next time – and he’s already got loyal foot soldiers in place.

The main architect of Trump’s fake-elector scheme in Congress is now the Speaker of the House and head of the Republican majority. And my opponent Lauren Boebert was giving Capitol tours to insurrectionists just days before they stormed the building.

Project 2025 is serious business. If Trump is allowed to win, and if Republicans are allowed to hold the House majority, a national abortion ban as extreme as Arizona’s will be just the beginning.
