Reports of Anti-Asian Assaults, Harassment and Hate Crimes Rise as Coronavirus Spreads
Amid the growing threat of the coronavirus, there are surging reports of xenophobic and racist incidents targeting members of the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community in the U.S. Since January 2020, there have been more than 44 reports of AAPI individuals being threatened and harassed on the street.
Congress has the chance to speak up against this rise in hate by passing H.Res. 908, introduced by Representative Grace Meng, which would condemn all forms of anti-Asian sentiment as related to COVID-19. Join ADL in signing the petition and urge them to support this legislation.

ADL Education Resources Available Online for Educators and Students
As educators and their students transition to distance learning amidst the coronavirus pandemic, ADL Education is making lesson plans about identity and bias, discussion guides for recommended books and Table Talk
resources for families available in digital formats. These resources will be accessible for free on ADL’s website and the online learning platform Sutori. Recently published resources include digital versions of ADL’s “Emojis and Me” lesson plan, which teaches the importance of representation and diversity in digital communication, and the discussion guide for Under My Hijab
, a children’s book that honors the diverse lives of contemporary Muslim women and girls. Additionally, ADL Education’s latest Table Talk empowers families to understand and reflect on how COVID-19 has highlighted and widened societal inequities, further marginalizing already vulnerable groups of people.
