— Illinois Business Journal, April 2nd, 2024
“Early Head Start programs offer vital services to our children and provide tremendous support for their families,” said Congresswoman Budzinski. “Today, I’m excited to announce that Southern Illinois University’s Head Start program will be receiving more than $9.9 million in federal funding to continue serving children across the Metro East.”

Investing in the education of our youth is essential to ensuring that kids across Central and Southern Illinois have a pathway to success.
Nearly 1,000 families with kids under five depend on this program to get prepared for school. Head Start programs help cognitive social, and environmental development as well as offer comprehensive services to families that promote healthy living and well-being.
Over 36 million kids across the nation depend on Head Start programs, and if we establish a strong Democratic majority, we can expand critical programs just like this one and build a better America for hardworking, everyday families.
