Earlier this week, the Senate Republican plan to filibuster a $78 billion tax cut leaked to the public. The bipartisan bill would have expanded the Child Tax Credit to America's hardworking families.

As a pediatrician, Kim was a champion in helping pass this bill in the House earlier this year. Child poverty has more than doubled since 2022 in the US. So with over 16 million children across the country set to benefit from expanding the Child Tax Credit , there's no good reason it shouldn't pass in the Senate.

Instead of providing support to ease the burdens of raising children and recognizing that every hungry child is a policy failure, Senate Republicans are choosing to put party over people in an attempt to win the Senate majority. They believe that with a win in November, they can instead pass an expanded tax cut for billionaires at the expense of hardworking families who rely on this credit to put food on their tables.

This is unacceptable. We need to take back the House so Kim and her Democratic colleagues can get back to work and reinstate the tax credit – but we can't do it without first protecting Kim's seat in WA-08.
