COVID-19 Impacts on Mexican-Descent Perinatal Women

In the April Perinatal Mental Health & Well-Being issue, Sandraluz Lara-Cinisomo of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and coauthors explore COVID-19-related stressors and recommendations ([link removed] ) to address the well-being of Mexican-descent perinatal women and mothers of young children.

After conducting a series of thirty-eight qualitative interviews, they found that half of the women “mentioned difficulties accessing food due to income loss, loss of food subsidies…price gouging, consumer stockpiling, and food shortages,” and many described limited or delayed health care.

To learn more about this paper, check out author Lara-Cinisomo's presentation ([link removed] ) at our theme issue briefing from last week.
