Today, I’m asking you to pitch in just
$10 to my
campaign for the U.S. Senate, ahead of our upcoming mid-month deadline.
I’ll explain why in a moment.

I recently read this article in the New York Times:
+------------------------------------------------------------------------+
The Very Rich G.O.P. Senate Candidates Bidding for Working-Class Votes

“The intentional decision by Republicans in Washington, D.C., to get
behind candidates with enormous personal fortunes will most likely give
the party a boost as it struggles for campaign cash against the
Democrats’ formidable grass-roots fund-raising operations. But the sheer
affluence of the candidates — and how they made their money — is sure to
be a factor in the fight for Senate control.”

John,
while Republicans have struggled to build grassroots support for their
campaigns, they’ve turned to ultra-wealthy, far-right celebrity candidates
to run for office — including Steve Garvey right here in California.
Mitch McConnell and the Senate Republicans’ campaign arm have successfully
recruited candidates in Montana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin who can
spend millions of their own money on their campaigns. Not to mention the
flood of super PAC dollars from Mitch McConnell’s GOP dark-money donors.
For McConnell and Trump, that’s good news. More than 200,000 of Trump’s
2020 donors have abandoned his campaign, and he’s relying on wealthy
self-funders to pick up the slack as he diverts his donors’ money to his
mounting legal bills.
For years, I have worked hard to reform our campaign finance system, and
together we’ve built this campaign without a penny of corporate PAC money.
John,
it’s not just about talking the talk — to reform our corrupt campaign
finance system, we need to walk the walk.
I introduced the landmark constitutional amendment to overturn the
Citizens United Supreme Court decision, allow reasonable restrictions on
political spending, outlaw dark money, and allow public financing of
campaigns.
But while our campaign finance system is stacked against voters in favor
of the ultra-rich and the mega-corporations that can cut big checks, I’m
counting on this grassroots team to support my campaign and Democrats
nationwide.
I’ve seen the power of our work before.
We’ve won tough races that pundits thought were unwinnable because of the
strength of this grassroots team. Think of Senators Raphael Warnock in
Georgia and Catherine Cortez Masto in Nevada. Or Representatives Mike
Levin and Josh Harder in California, who won tough re-elections and kept
the GOP’s majority slim.
In the November elections, it won’t be easy to defend the Senate majority,
flip the House, and protect the White House, especially up against so many
wealthy Republican candidates. [ [link removed] ]But if everyone reading this message
pitched in just
$10, it
would go a long way in standing up to the GOP.
