Our early education policy bill also made it across the finish line, which focuses on strengthening our pre-kindergarten and school readiness programs. Finally, we approved a transportation policy package that improves road safety, Driver Vehicle Services wait times, child passenger safety, and consumer protections. Plymouth City Center Redevelopment Plan
I continue to work on legislation to get our Plymouth community the funding necessary for regional infrastructure, safety, and mobility. HF 4306 would provide the use of tax increment financing to support redevelopment improvements to the Plymouth City Center. If passed, this funding will improve walkability and pedestrian safety; strengthen mobility and transit connectivity; allow for bus rapid transit; bolster environmental sustainability; provide public parking; support a mix of housing opportunities; create community gathering spaces; and contribute to the success of restaurants and businesses. Rep. Carroll and I are advocating for this bill to make it across the finish line ahead of our required date to adjourn, which is May 20.
Connected to Community
It was a chilly, but exciting day for Medicine Lake last week! On Monday, we broke ground for the water quality and street improvement project I was proud to carry as legislation in 2023. More specifically, the $3.5 million in investments will allow the reconstruction of drinking water and wastewater collection systems and improvements for hydrant fire safety.
Thank you Mayor Chris Heim and Mayor Jeff Wosje for your collaboration with the legislation and advocacy for our communities! All of our neighbors deserve access to clean drinking water.
It was great to be at the recent swearing-in of Plymouth's new council members Nelson and Cesnik, with Mayor Wosje. Congratulations on your appointments! I'm looking forward to partnering together on city and state issues.
