John,
We’ve been in touch to talk to you about the importance of paid sick leave, especially in the time of this coronavirus pandemic. Right now, this country’s lack of guaranteed federal paid sick leave has left millions of workers, especially those in the service industry, without the ability to stay home sick or social distance, because they’re reliant upon receiving a paycheck to support themselves and their families.
That’s why we at Voto Latino believe it’s time the U.S. finally pass guaranteed paid sick leave.
But we’re not just talking about temporary paid sick leave during this pandemic. Which by the way, workers that have been deemed “essential” -- like grocery store employees, mail carriers, and more -- aren't even getting these benefits! We’re calling on Congress to pass legislation establishing permanent paid sick leave for every worker in this country going forward.
Add your name to our petition today urging Congress to pass permanent paid sick leave for workers right now! [[link removed]]

For too long in this country, employers have had the choice whether or not to offer paid sick leave to their employees, how much to offer, and under what conditions. That’s left an estimated 15 million people -- more than half of Latino workers -- without a single paid sick day.
Nearly one-quarter of Latinos work in the service industry, leaving our community particularly vulnerable not just during this pandemic, but every day. Workers should never have to choose between a paycheck or staying home sick, taking care of their sick children or another family member, or dealing with another personal emergency. Yet that has been the reality all along.
The time has come for permanent, guaranteed paid sick leave. If you agree, sign our petition now to help us make it happen >> [[link removed]]
