The April 7 election is just days away, and we hope many of you have already cast your ballots by mail. At the ACLU of Wisconsin, we're committed to defending your voting rights, helping you cast an informed ballot, and making it as easy as possible for eligible voters to vote by mail. Here's what you need to know:

Voting By Mail

Yesterday a judge extended the deadline to request an absentee ballot to 5pm today (April 3rd) and extended the deadline for ballots to be received to 4 p.m. on April 13.

But the court battle is ongoing, so we're encouraging voters to make sure their ballot is RECEIVED by the clerk no later than 8 p.m. on April 7th to guarantee their vote will be counted.

It's also easier than ever to vote by mail. Voters who enclose a note saying that they cannot safely obtain a witness signature due to COVID-19 do not need to include a witness signature on their absentee ballot application.

We're also working hard to make sure Wisconsinites who can't or don't want to vote by mail still have the opportunity to vote in-person at a polling place in their community. Confirm your polling place.

Vote NO on Marsy's Law

On April 7th, Wisconsin voters will be asked to amend the state constitution to enact "Marsy's Law," a sweeping measure that purports to protect victims' rights – but in fact threatens the civil liberties of all Wisconsinites. We're encouraging voters to vote "No" on this harmful measure, which fails to meaningfully improve on existing protections for victims while creating a host of new problems and weakening the rights of the accused. Cast an informed vote for the Wisconsin Supreme Court

The Wisconsin Supreme Court makes decisions that affect all of us – and right now, Wisconsin voters have the power to pick the next person to serve on the state's highest court. The next Supreme Court Justice will serve a ten-year term, and it's vital we elect someone who believes in fairness, equality under the law, and our Constitution.
