Hi, This week I introduced a bill that would fix an oversight of the COVID-19 relief package. The original bill does not provide a $500 payment to families with children 17 and over despite the fact that they are still classed as dependents for tax purposes. This bill, that has quickly received bipartisan support, would expand the definition of dependents to include 17 and 18 year olds, students up to age 24 and disabled dependents to allow families to receive more support during this difficult time. Congress needs to pass this bipartisan fix immediately.
