The horrific ruling in Arizona is a reminder that today’s Republican Party and its far-right supporters are determined to enact a national abortion ban.

And after decimating Roe v. Wade, the right to an abortion - even in blue states - will be immediately at risk the next time Republicans have unified control of Washington.

I say: “ENOUGH!”

Right-wing religious extremism is a clear and immediate threat to our democracy and to individual liberties, but that doesn’t mean we have to accept defeat.

I’ve taken on some of the toughest challenges -- not because they’re hard, but because they’re important. And there’s nothing more important than protecting personal rights – including our reproductive freedoms.

It's not lost on me that these attacks on women’s autonomy come at a time when we still lack basic equal representation: less than 30% of our federal representatives are women. In November, we can change that – I'd be the first woman ever elected here in CA-30, and a critical voice in re-establishing reproductive rights as the law of the land regardless of your zip code.

I won’t stand idly by while my daughter grows up in a world where women have fewer rights than I did -- fewer rights than my mother did.
