Navigating the changing dynamics of day-to-day life during a pandemic is a challenge for all of us. But one group that is particularly at risk during this time is Arizona’s tribal communities.

Navajo Nation and Hopi Reservation are extreme food deserts with only 10 grocery stores on Navajo Nation to serve some 180,000 people and only one grocery store on Hopi Reservation to serve some 3,000 people. These communities also have high numbers of at-risk demographics, including elderly, diabetic, and cancer-afflicted individuals.

During these times of great need, several organizations are mobilizing to provide relief and resources for Native American communities and other affected groups. If you are able, please consider making a donation to the Navajo & Hopi Families COVID-19 Relief Fund or the United for Southern Arizona COVID-19 Fund.
