While the latest Coronavirus relief
package isn't perfect, it's much better because my Democratic
colleagues and I are standing up and demanding a better deal for
workers.

Thanks to our pressure, Republicans backed down on key
issues.

* Every American who makes under $99,000 will receive a
direct payment to offset some of the burden the Coronavirus has
caused. Full payments will be received by those making under
$75,000.

* We provided emergency funding for hospitals that are under
great strain from the disease.

* We're making $350 billion available to small businesses for
loans to stay in business and prevent layoffs.

* Small businesses will get loans to retain employees and keep
them receiving health benefits so that they can be rehired when
the crisis is over.

* We expanded paid sick leave so employees don't fall through the
cracks.

* We secured accountability and oversight measures for the $500
billion large business fund, and we held firm on provisions to
forbid stock buybacks and obscene executive compensation.
