Yesterday, Arizona’s Supreme Court revived an 1864 abortion law that bans abortion in nearly all instances, and allows for a penalty of up to five years in prison for anyone who performs an abortion. 

This ruling marks the latest setback for abortion rights, as Arizona joins the fourteen other states with similarly harsh restrictions.

In the past two years, voters in states like Ohio and Kansas have made it clear that the majority of Americans support the right to choose. But anti-choice Republican extremists are still aiming to pass abortion bans at the state and national levels – which would disproportionately affect young people in need of essential healthcare.

It is past time for Democrats in Congress to follow through on their promise to codify Roe v. Wade, so that everyone can access reproductive healthcare regardless of which state they live in. So we’re calling on you to contact your United States Senators and urge them to codify Roe v. Wade into federal law, which would finally stop these dangerous abortion bans and restore abortion access nationwide.
