John, Sea turtles are surrounded by deadly plastic pollution. They're drowned by discarded fishing nets that wrap around flippers and necks. They're suffocated or choked by plastic grocery bags that are easily mistaken for a tasty jellyfish. They graze on shards of plastic bottles that hide in seaweed beds. A lucky sea turtle can avoid these dangers and live to be up to 100 years old. But too many don't.1 To protect sea turtles and all marine life, we need to stop producing, using and discarding so much plastic -- and we need your support to help mobilize corporations and our government to take action to reduce plastic. Will you donate today to help save sea turtles and other wildlife from plastic pollution? Not that long ago, a sea turtle could live its entire life without encountering a single piece of plastic. Some of the turtles that hatched in that plastic-free era are still alive today, but the world they live in now is full of new dangers. Plastic pollution is everywhere -- in the ocean, on beaches, and even inside the animals that call these habitats home.2 Every single sea turtle species has consumed plastic.3 One study found that 90% of tiny loggerhead turtle hatchlings off the coast of Florida have swallowed plastic -- and the numbers are worse for adult turtles.4 We've reshaped the world with our plastic waste -- and it's up to us to fix it. Donate to help put wildlife over plastic waste today. With your support, Environment Colorado and our national network are tackling our plastic pollution problem from every angle.
We know we have our work cut out for us, and all this work takes resources. Will you donate today to fuel all our work to cut back on plastic and put wildlife over waste? Thank you, Ellen Montgomery Your donation will be used to support all of our campaigns to protect the environment, from saving the bees and protecting public lands, to standing up for clean water and fighting climate change. None of our work would be possible without supporters like you. Environment Colorado may transfer up to $50 per dues-paying member per year into the Environment Colorado Small Donor Committee. |
