Our latest report shows how hate actors boost their audience on X by exploiting the Israel-Gaza conflict.
Friend,
Elon Musk’s X is creating the perfect environment for bad actors to exploit the Israel-Gaza conflict to boost their audience - while X itself profits from ads on their extreme content.
Our new report shows that 10 accounts promoting anti-Jewish, anti-Muslim & anti-Palestinian hate grew 4 times faster after October 7.
How is X helping these hate spreaders? By giving them the tools they need to amplify their hate:
During the time of our study, the 10 hateful accounts were X Premium subscribers - which means that Musk’s platform gives their posts greater visibility.
6 of these 10 Premium accounts have also enabled subscriptions. Now, they can charge their followers a monthly fee to gain access to exclusive posts.
How is X benefiting from their hate? In our testing, X placed ads for big brands like Oreo, the NBA, Elon Musk’s Starlink, and X itself near hateful posts. Musk’s platform is making money from anti-Jewish, anti-Muslim & anti-Palestinian hate.
Social media companies must stop turning a blind eye to hate spreaders who weaponize human suffering for profit.
The amplification of extreme hate on social media platforms can fuel even more offline violence in the Israel-Gaza conflict. By exposing it, we can pressure social media companies to stop enabling this evil business model:
