I'm coming to you personally to ask for your help because I see a lot of parallels between Debbie's story and mine. She is, without a doubt, the kind of leader Floridians deserve in a Senator.

Debbie grew up in a one room apartment, and her mother — an immigrant from Ecuador — worked tirelessly to provide a better life for Debbie and her sisters, so they could achieve their American dream. I grew up with six brothers and sisters in a two room house in Jacksonville. My mom worked as a maid, and my dad was a janitor. We both know what it means to work hard and persevere.

Debbie and I also grew up working minimum wage jobs, and yet we went on to serve in Congress together. We've dedicated our careers to public service because we want every Floridian to have the opportunities we had — to ensure the American dream is within reach for each and every one of them.

But do you know who is standing in the way of the American dream for far too many Floridians? Our extremist Senator, Rick Scott, who is beholden to a disgraced, twice-impeached former president, Donald Trump.

A mere 35% of Floridians view Rick Scott favorably, friend. It's no wonder why. But Scott spent $64 million of his personal fortune to buy this Senate seat in 2018, and he's already spent millions this time around in his efforts to repeat history.

Experts everywhere are saying this will be one of the most competitive — and expensive — races in the country. I know that Debbie can defeat Rick Scott and deliver the leadership Florida deserves, but only with the power of a grassroots movement fueled by people like you, friend.
