[ BREAKING: ]BREAKING: Arizona Supreme Court rules that a 160-year-old near-total
abortion ban still on the books in the state is enforceable, adding the
state to the growing lists of places where abortion care is effectively
banned.



This is not a drill. The Arizona Supreme Court just issued a ruling
invoking a law from the Civil War era to enact a near total abortion ban
in Arizona and criminalize providers performing abortions and anyone who
helps someone get one. This happened the same week that Donald Trump
bragged about ending Roe v. Wade, which paved the way for the draconian
abortion bans we’ve seen across the country.

I am furious.

After striking down Roe, Republicans and extremist judges continue to
attack our reproductive freedom with dangerous rulings like these. There
is no doubt in my mind that they will continue using every tool they have
to completely ban abortion care in every state in the country.

This is a public health crisis. And we must fight back. While we work to
get Congress to codify abortion rights into law once and for all, there
are groups on the ground in Arizona organizing for abortion rights and
working to turn out voters in November to pass abortion protections in the
state.

people’s right to bodily autonomy, prevent punishment for exercising the
