It happens to most of us—we misplace our keys or forget the name of a movie or an acquaintance. But that doesn’t mean becoming more forgetful as we age is inevitable.
In fact, National Geographic’s science team recently shared a few things we can do to keep our memories sharp. Among them are “exercising, eating healthfully, getting good sleep, socializing, and challenging our mind”—the same tips that can also help lower our risk of diseases, such as diabetes, stroke, and heart disease.
Our favorite way to keep our memories sharp? Jigsaw puzzles, a hobby that bloomed among adults during the pandemic and continues to grow. And experts agree that strategy-based games and puzzles can help. Here are a few of our team's favorite puzzles to keep you on your toes.
