Hearing | Unlocking Opportunity: Allowing Independent Contractors to Access Benefits: 70+ million Americans partake in full-time, part-time, or occasional freelance work. It’s estimated half of the U.S. workforce will partake in flexible work by 2027. These workers want to maintain their independence and don’t self-identify as traditional W-2 employees. Nevertheless, regulators frequently target these individuals using worker classification tests intended to force them back into employee arrangements, alleging they don’t have access to employment benefits like health insurance. They believe they know what’s best for these workers, but let’s put that hubris aside. All working Americans should have the right to choose when, how, and where they receive income. By putting regulations on independent contracting positions, the government bars workers who depend on their small businesses and flexibility from freely pursuing their hopes and dreams.

Tune in tomorrow to watch Gabriella Hoffman, senior policy analyst with IWF’s Center for Economic Opportunity, testify before Congress on this issue at 9:00 a.m. EDT. Watch Here ([link removed])

President Joe Biden signed a $1.2 trillion package funding federal agencies for the remainder of fiscal 2024. ** Recent ‘Squatters’ Are Trespassers Emboldened by Progressives’ Failure to Deter Property Crime ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------
Last month, New York resident Adele Andalaroo entered the home of her deceased parents to find squatters inside. When she called law enforcement, they arrested her for unlawful eviction.
