The Governor's Council on Developmental Disabilities (GCDD) is pleased to announce the availability of a total of $70,000 in federal funds under provisions of the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 2000 (DD Act) (P.L. 106-402) to provide targeted training to three cohorts in racial and ethnic communities. Proposals are being sought from any public or private organization or any non-profit organization. The GCDD will award a single annual grant of $70,000 that may be renewed up to four additional years.?Proposals must offer a training program that develops and strengthens the ability of self advocates and parents of children with developmental disabilities from culturally diverse backgrounds to serve as leaders on disability issues that are important to them in their community. Also, as a result of the trainings, more underrepresented persons will enroll in the Home and Community Based Waiver System, resulting in a reduction in disparities in accessing services.?The deadline for proposals is 5:00 p.m., Central Time, Thursday, May 16, 2024.
