Since 2020, the Department of Justice has made a concerted effort to prosecute people who have threatened election workers, resulting in 20 prosecutions. I think these words from Attorney General Merrick Garland are particularly important.

“The right to vote, which is the cornerstone of our democracy, relies on the ability of election workers and election officials to perform their duties without fearing for their lives.” - Merrick Garland

He’s right. Election workers deserve to be protected by law.

That’s why I helped lead the effort in Minnesota to pass laws to protect election workers from harassment and threats. But we can’t stop there. The legislative session is full swing, and we’re continuing our work to have the most secure elections in America.
