EGLE announces the Michigan Coastal Management Program?s 2024 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding competition call for letters of intent

The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), Michigan Coastal Management Program (MCMP) is announcing the federal funding competition made available through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), Public Law 117-58.? The funding competition is being administered by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) for Coastal Habitat Restoration projects and Land Conservation projects.? Funding is intended to support projects within coastal counties that protect or restore ecologically significant habitats that play a critical role in helping communities become more resilient to coastal hazards and the impacts of climate change.? Funding per project may be up to $6 million with no match expectation.

The federal BIL selection is highly competitive within the National Coastal Management Program (CMP) Network with NOAA completing selections through a two-phase process.? The first phase allows the MCMP to select/submit up to three LOI's to NOAA for the federal competition.? To be competitive, projects need to make a strong alignment with the MCMP and NOAA program objectives and goals and contain all required components outlined in this funding opportunity.? NOAA will notify the MCMP if applicants are invited back to submit a full proposal.? Applicants invited back for full proposal will be responsible for submission of the full proposal via the federal Grants.gov.

MCMP staff are available to discuss and advise on project concepts before submittal of LOI?s. Please fill out the Project Interest Form located on the BIL funding webpage at Coastal Habitat Restoration and Ecosystem Land Conservation 2024 Grant Funding Opportunity (michigan.gov) [ [link removed] ] and a staff member will reach out to you for further discussions.

To submit a LOI, please visit the MCMP?s webpage at Coastal Management (michigan.gov) [ [link removed] ].
