Friends,

When Trump first ran for office, he opened the door to countless Republicans spewing lies, hate, and attacks on immigrants. Just this week, Trump made another comment, saying he wants immigrants from “nice countries” like “Denmark or Switzerland,” but not from Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America. And he’s inspired his MAGA allies in the House — Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert — to spread the same hateful rhetoric.

When Trump and his lackeys make these comments, they’re not only attacking the millions of immigrants who made our country what it is today but attacking families like mine.

Trump and his MAGA allies can’t get away with these attacks and we must take them down at the ballot box.

If you agree, please contribute $3 or whatever you can afford to my movement today to help flip the House blue. Taking away power from the MAGA GOP is our best way to combat their hate. [[link removed]]

If you don’t know my story, I am not your typical Congressman. I am the first openly gay immigrant to be elected to Congress. And when I say that the day I became a U.S. citizen was one of the best days of my life, I mean it.

Like so many in Southern California, my journey here doesn’t just belong to me. It’s an American story. I immigrated to the United States as a young child and was raised in Southern California by my mother. My mom gave up everything to find us a better life — to be American.

She put a wealth of opportunity in my hands and spent the last moments of her life serving Americans as a nurse during the COVID-19 pandemic. Like many other immigrants, my mother gave her all to this country.

In my early twenties, I became a U.S. citizen. When I raised my hand and pledged an oath to this country, it was transformational for me and my family.

At the time, I was grateful for all the opportunities this country had already given me. Little did I know I would get the chance to become a U.S. Congressman. But that's what America is — a place of endless opportunity.

My story is an American story, and there are so many other immigrants who deserve the same shot that I got.

So when Trump and his MAGA cronies attack immigrants, they’re attacking me, my mom, and millions of Americans who have spent their lives contributing to our communities after immigrating here.

And if Trump and his MAGA puppets take back the presidency and keep the House, they will waste no time enacting inhumane immigration policies that will destroy the very fabric of our country. We cannot let that happen. So please, if you are with me, contribute $3 to my movement today so Democrats can keep this seat free from my MAGA opponent and take back the House majority from MAGA extremists. Immigrants built this country, and we’re stronger for it. Thank you for standing by my side.

Robert
