Folks, according to Axios, Virginia is one of the top states in the country for book bans, with almost 400 titles targeted for bans in our libraries last year alone.

This is unacceptable. Books change lives, especially the lives of our young students.

In Hanover County, the “The Handmaid’s Tale” was banned – a book that explicitly addresses why legally controlling women’s reproductive freedom is morally and politically wrong. Making sure this book is widely available in our post-Roe era couldn’t be more important. And in Rockingham County, they banned “Slaughterhouse-Five.” I remember reading that book growing up, learning about the real impacts of war, PTSD, and confronting the fundamental questions of life and death. The impact it left on me was undeniable.

We can’t allow this to continue. We can’t let the GOP attack our freedoms and liberties… especially when it comes to our students – our next generation of leaders.

Can you pitch in $5 now to help me elect more Democrats to Congress who will take a stand against this dangerous censorship?
