Dear John,
This week, your Senators returned to Washington, D.C. following a two-week break—and it’s time for them to get to work reducing child poverty. We need your help to ensure that the expanded Child Tax Credit (CTC) remains at the forefront of Senate discussions in the coming weeks. With bipartisan support, the House passed a crucial bill to expand the CTC, but it now requires the support of the Senate to become law.
Tell the Senate: Pass the expanded child tax credit [[link removed]]
The CTC has already proven to be a lifeline for millions of families, lifting children out of poverty and providing much-needed financial assistance to struggling households. Almost half a million kids could be raised above the poverty line—it’s time for our Senators to take action.
If passed, the expanded child tax credit package will:
Increase for 80% of low-income families not currently receiving the full credit – with more than one out of every three Black and Latino children benefiting, as well as three in ten American Indian and Alaska Native children benefiting. Have a per-child phase-in providing each child in a family with their own same-sized credit. This is a significant improvement as three quarters of the 19 million children currently left out of the full credit live in families with more than one child. Help about 16 million children in the first year and reduce child poverty.
Without action from the Senate, we risk leaving countless families vulnerable to financial hardship. Contact your Senators and tell them children and families need their support today!
Thank you for your advocacy,
