We need our legislators to lower the costs of care.

How much should care cost, John?

For too many families, care has become an exorbitant cost, with family caregivers spending more than $7,000 out of pocket on average for aging and disability caregiving costs and more than $10,000 on child care. That’s unacceptable – and it needs to change.

In honor of the Care Month of Action, we’re bringing together a powerful majority of caregivers, care recipients, care workers, and care activists to show our elected officials what the true cost of care looks like – with stories of our own challenges and experiences. Together, we’ll call for real change in our care system, so everyone can access high-quality, affordable care when we need it most.

Sign onto our petition calling on legislators to lower the cost of care!

A family with a grandfather, mother, and son, smile and embrace against a blue background with an orange star. Text reads, "The cost of care is too high."

The average cost of in-home and community aging & disability care is more than $50,000 per year. And in every state, the average cost of child care is higher than the cost of rent. Meanwhile, many care workers earn less than $24,000 yearly, which is nowhere near enough to make ends meet for their own families.

Something is broken in our care system.

When care costs – including child care and aging and disability care –  are rising by tens of thousands each year, but that money isn’t making it to the care workers who make it possible – something is wrong. We need our elected leaders to take action and bring our care back into balance.

By signing this petition, you can join our movement to bring down the costs of care. Our stories are some of the most powerful forces in that fight. When you sign the petition, you’ll have the option to share your family’s own average cost of care. We’ll take that information to elected leaders and build a case for better care for all of us.

Don’t wait, John. In honor of our Care Month of Action, sign the petition now.

We’ll keep bringing you actions you can take all month long!
