The Arizona abortion ban (originally passed in 1864) doesn’t include any exception for rape or incest. It has minimal protection for women who need an abortion to terminate a life-threatening pregnancy – and we’ve seen how those life-of-the-mother “exceptions” actually work these last two years.
But this isn’t the only old law Republicans are trying to drag us back under.
Lauren Boebert supports enforcing the Comstock Act (passed in 1871) to block access to medication like mifepristone and misoprostol.
Boebert supports a national abortion ban. She’s a cosponsor of the Life at Conception Act which would shut down IVF nationwide.
Boebert wants to overturn Colorado laws that protect abortion, calling the state she represents “the abortion destination of America.”
I’m proud of the fact Colorado provides care for women who have to travel from states where the life-saving abortion care they need is banned. I’m not going to let MAGA extremists like Lauren Boebert import their radical views and force them onto the women of this state – or ANY state.
