Did you see the Rolling Stone article about Alexandria’s newest bill to
regulate AI?

Nearly 96% of deepfake images and video created by AI contain pornographic
imagery of women — all of which is created non-consensually. Last year,
more deepfake abuse videos were shared than every previous year
combined.^1

So Alexandria worked closely with abuse survivors to write the Disrupt
Explicit Forged Images and Non-Consensual Edits (DEFIANCE) Act. If passed,
victims could sue anyone who ‘knew or recklessly disregarded’ their
consent when they created, shared, or received the deepfake pornography.

Alexandria has been the target of disturbing online harassment for years.
But she isn’t afraid to hold those that are causing harm to account.

[ [link removed] ]Alexandria came to Congress to legislate in a new way: by really
centering everyday people and the policies that benefit their lives. If

Alexandria made it clear in the interview:

“It’s so important to me that people understand that this is not just a
form of interpersonal violence, it’s not just about the harm that’s done
to the victim. Because this technology threatens to do it at scale —
this is about class subjugation… when you are able to actively subjugate
all women in society on a scale of millions at once digitally, it’s a
direct connection with taking their rights away.”

The DEFIANCE Act would amend the Violence Against Women Act, and has been
endorsed by more than 20 organizations, including the National Women’s Law
Center, the National Domestic Violence Hotline, and the Sexual Violence
Prevention Association.
