Under any other circumstance, a candidate for president invoking violence
and insults against political rivals would be grounds for disqualification
and disdain from voters.

But not for Donald Trump.

Most recently, Trump has posted videos depicting violence against
President Biden.

Over and over again, Donald Trump uses his huge platform to go after his
rivals — and once he sounds off on them, his army of online MAGA trolls
continues the attacks.

It’s vicious and dangerous. And
John, I know firsthand how it
feels.

For years, Trump has made me public enemy number one because I have
effectively held him to account.

From my service as chairman of the House Intelligence Committee to my work
as impeachment manager in his first trial to my time on the January 6
Select Committee, I have been persistent in my work to hold Trump to
account.

And Trump knows how effective I am. Which is why he’s insulted me
repeatedly. Called me out personally on the campaign stage and on cable
news. And unleashed his online army to go after me.

John, if
Donald Trump becomes president once more, he will use and abuse his powers
for his own gain — even more than he did during his first term.

The attacks and insults on social media will not end, even if he holds the
title of President of the United States. That’s why I’m doing all I can to
prevent him from making it there — and in the Senate, I will continue to
hold him accountable.
