Nottingham continues to show its best side in tough times

A message from City Council Leader, Cllr David Mellen:

Showing our carers we care

Council house lit up blue 02.04.20

It was great to hear the rousing round of applause last night across Nottingham celebrating and thanking our carers. Thank you to everyone who took part I know it is very much appreciated by those working on the frontline.?

Nottingham Together

NCC call centre

And it?s not just those who work in the care sector that have risen to challenge this pandemic brings to our local communities. Since the outbreak of Coronavirus, the council has been working hard to ensure people have access to the essential services they need. We have also had a large number of community groups and volunteers come forward to offer their time and resources to support their communities. If you would like to volunteer, or are in need of help or support, please contact the Council on 0115 915 5555. I am extremely grateful for the amazing response we have seen in so far and for the care and compassion for others that has been shown in our city.

The generosity of Robin Hood lives on!

As well as their time Nottingham people have also generously donated much needed funds to the Robin Hood fundraiser. This fund has been has launched to support the organisations that can have the most impact on those in need. Over ?27,000 has been raised in the first two weeks which is absolutely fantastic and is already making a different to people lives. I am pleased that the first ?10,000 was donated to food banks right here in Nottingham. Find out more and donate The Nottingham Robin Hood Fund

Bringing our libraries into your homes

Virtual online libraries

We know that libraries are an incredible resource for providing information, education, and entertainment, but are sadly out of reach when we need them the most during this lockdown. That is why the council has worked hard to launch an online library to support people while they are unable to visit our libraries around the city. Among the many online resources available, are eBooks, eAudio, eMagazines and eReference books so you and your families can continue to read at home. You can find out more here.

A fine weekend ? but please stay safe

We seem to be in for a weekend of good weather and many of us will want to take our daily excise outdoors. I urge everyone to enjoy the warmer weather with the caution that this virus demands, stay safe and look after each other.

Coronavirus FAQs

Whilst it might be tempting, please only go outdoors for your daily exercise and stay safe and look after each other.
