Dear friend,
While Labor pretends to compete with the Greens, the Labor Government frequently relies on Green preferences and the support of their 11 Senators to pass legislation.
At last month’s Brisbane City Council elections, the Greens’ vote almost matched Labor’s.
Now, at Saturday’s Cook by-election, Labor has chosen to not face voters. Instead, it is the Greens vying to beat us.
So it is important voters in Cook – and elsewhere – know what the Greens really stand for.
Here are just a few examples of policies available on their website. The Greens want to:
- Cut Defence and renegotiate ANZUS. The Greens’ policy calls for Defence to be cut by over 30% and to “renegotiate the US alliance”.
- Introduce reparations. The Greens want to enact a “national treaty” and to “make reparations to those affected by the Frontier Wars”.
- End new motorways. The NSW Greens policy is to “end the construction of new motorways”. The Greens’ policy is to “end the sale of new petrol and diesel cars from 2030”.
- Decriminalise hard drugs (including ice and heroin). The Greens’ policy says the “use of illegal drugs should not fall within the criminal framework”.
- Cut private health insurance. The Greens’ policy calls for “abolishing the private health insurance rebate”.
There are many additional extreme views and positions held by their candidates.
The Greens’ agenda is wrong for Australia. It’s not “green”, it’s extreme.
Regards,
Liberal HQ
