We must act now and help refugees worldwide.

John,
By now you know that social distancing is absolutely critical to slowing the global coronavirus outbreak and reducing the number of deaths. But, John, for millions of refugees living in overcrowded camps worldwide, social distancing is impossible.

This means refugee families in places like Syria will be among the hardest hit by this global pandemic.

We must help them now. Make an urgent gift to the IRC and help us deliver relief and critical aid to vulnerable populations worldwide. »

Your support will help refugees like Watfa, 37, who has been displaced by violence in Syria four times. She is currently caring for her elderly mother who is deaf and unwell.

Watfa's home was destroyed by an airstrike. Explosions went off as she was preparing an evening meal for her family.

The family immediately had to flee and spent the night at a neighbor's house. The next morning, an uncle took them to Idlib where Watfa initially stayed with her sister and mother. With five families sharing the house, it became very crowded and there was a lack of food.

Their displacement took an emotional and physical toll on Watfa's mother and her health deteriorated. She urgently needed to see a doctor. She needed medicine. That's when the IRC came into their lives. Thanks to supporters like you, we were able to help just in time and offer support to Watfa and her family.

John, Watfa and her mother have been through enough. They should not have to fear dying of COVID-19 due to cramped conditions — or risk losing the support of IRC teams, who are helping them survive and rebuild their lives.

As the coronavirus continues to spread in crisis zones like Syria, refugees need us more than ever. IRC teams on the ground need to reach more families like Watfa's – and you can make that possible.

Will you rush an emergency gift today? Your donation will help us minimize the spread of the coronavirus — and it will allow us to keep sending life-saving aid to families worldwide.

IRC teams are on the ground right now in 40+ countries, including Syria, adapting our life-saving programs and working to enhance preventative measures to COVID-19, including:
  • Training healthcare workers to identify the disease, protect themselves and mitigate the spread
  • Educating communities on how to access services and stay safe
  • Providing essential hand washing stations and protective gear
Your gift today will help us maximize these efforts to reach displaced families in danger. We cannot let refugees fight their struggles alone, including this pandemic. So, are you with us, John?
