The Arizona state Supreme Court ruled today to reinstate a law from the 19th century — before Arizona was even granted statehood — banning abortion care and threatening providers with prison time. It’s an egregious example of the devotion of far-right politicians to their extremist ideology instead of the people they are meant to serve.
When Donald Trump led the effort to overturn Roe v. Wade, he put women’s health care across the country at risk. With this ruling, we’re reminded that Republicans want to take us back to the laws of the 1860s.
This November, women’s health care is on the ballot, and we can protect it in North Carolina.
Republicans see this state as their top opportunity to pick up a Governor’s Office. They’ve nominated an extremist who will not hesitate to sign a total abortion ban into effect. We must defeat him — and we must also break the GOP supermajority in Raleigh that betrayed our state and passed a dangerous abortion ban last year.
