BREAKING NEWS, team: Arizona’s Supreme Court has cleared the way to enforce a near-total abortion ban that dates back to the Civil War.

The decision is unconscionable. The law was written before women could vote and many could not own property. To enforce it now puts patients’ lives at risk — all in the pursuit of control over women’s bodies.

Arizona AG Kris Mayes has already vowed to never prosecute any patient or doctor in the state under this draconian law. It’s terrifying to remember that AG Mayes won her last election by just 280 votes — and if it went the other way, Arizona would have an extremist in office who could be eager to prosecute patients and their doctors for seeking and providing care.

This is a direct reminder that elections have consequences. Attacks on our freedoms are widespread, but our Dem AGs will never give up the fight to protect them.
