Hi John xxxxxx,
TODAY: We cannot believe we’re writing YET ANOTHER email to alert you of YET ANOTHER abortion ban. Today’s ban was, indeed, brought to you by a room of mostly men: The Arizona Supreme Court.
As of today, the Arizona Supreme Court has upheld a 160-year-old abortion ban. From 1864.
According to The New York Times, this ban was upheld in a 4-2 decision and outlaws abortion from the moment of conception. Under the law, doctors who are prosecuted will face fines and prison time up to 5 years.
But there’s an important element to this story: According to The 19th, Arizona’s Attorney General, Democrat Kris Mayes, has stated that she would NOT prosecute medical providers for performing abortions. And the state’s Governor, “Democrat Katie Hobbs, issued an executive order last June giving the AG authority over abortion-related prosecutions.” Both of these incredibly critical seats in the AZ government are, thankfully, filled by women.
This story proves just how important it is to elect more women to our government. We desperately need women in the halls of power – blocking sexist, dangerous laws from being written – and changing the ones that are already in place. Help us continue to fight for abortion access across the nation by electing fiercely pro-choice women to EVERY ROOM WHERE DECISIONS ARE BEING MADE by rushing $20.24 or more now →

To be clear, these two leaders are doing all they can to protect the women in Arizona from the repercussions of this horrifying ban – but, in 14 days, abortion will effectively be outlawed in the state. Women in Arizona will likely die as a result of this decision.
We are fighting like hell for a country in which women are the ones making decisions about OUR bodies. We hope you’ll join us.
In solidarity,
