The Arizona Supreme Court just banned abortion, John.

The court reinstated a 160-year-old abortion ban that makes no exceptions for rape or incest, and makes performing an abortion punishable by two to five years in prison. Under their previous ban, doctors in Arizona were allowed to provide abortions up to 15 weeks into pregnancy.

Currently, this decision does not go into effect for 14 days, and abortion is still available in Arizona.

Voters in Arizona could be the ultimate decision makers on abortion access this year. More than 500,000 Arizonans have signed a petition to put a state constitutional right to abortion on the ballot this November.

Since Roe v. Wade was overturned in 2022, abortion access has been on the ballot in seven states, and it has won every time. Voters in Ohio, Michigan, California, Vermont, Kentucky, Montana, and Kansas voted to protect reproductive freedom in their state.
