Hi John,
It might or might not surprise you that oil and gas companies are spending millions of dollars to spread misinformation to slow America’s transition to clean, pollution-free electric vehicles.
Every day people are reading misinformation and that includes your members of Congress. And when combined with oil and gas’ powerful network of lobbyists, their voice can have an even bigger impact than you can imagine. In 2023 alone the oil and gas industry spent over $132 million dollars on lobbying efforts all to keep us addicted to the gas pump.
We’re seeing those results now as certain members of Congress are considering legislation that would interfere with the powerful new clean transportation policies — including new emissions standards meant to protect our health from tailpipe pollution!
We can’t let EV misinformation slow climate progress. Tell your members of Congress to
“get the facts right” and help us push back against anti-EV legislation!
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently finalized new emissions standards for cars and trucks that will put a big dent in tailpipe pollution. In fact, estimates show that they will cut over 8 billion tons of climate pollution — that’s more than all U.S. greenhouse gas emissions last year!
That’s a big win for clean air and climate!
But the oil and gas industry is doubling down in their efforts to spread misinformation, casting doubts on the benefits of clean transportation and misleading leaders about the intentions behind new vehicle emissions standards, just to advance the fossil fuel agenda!
If the oil and gas industry is successful in dismantling important environmental standards, people and the environment will continue to suffer from dirty air and climate pollution.
Don’t let misinformation win! Reach out now to your legislators and tell them to protect new vehicle emissions standards.
Thank you for raising your voice,
Wes Rogerson
