Despite Donald Trump’s deadly record on gun violence and Joe Biden’s continued action to address the epidemic, polls suggest that this rematch is virtually a toss up, with mere percentage points differentiating the candidates.
But the difference between these candidates is a matter of life and death for Americans, friend, and our country cannot afford another four years of NRA-darling Donald Trump in the Presidency.
Trump spent his presidency installing Second Amendment extremists in federal courts and his appointees to the Supreme Court were essential in an NRA victory in the Bruen decision in 2022, which the gun lobby has used to try and hack away at gun laws across the country. And his Supreme Court Justices will decide two more consequential gun safety cases.
Meanwhile, Joe Biden has demonstrated his commitment to freeing America from its gun violence epidemic time and again: He has taken executive actions to expand Brady Background Checks; to close deadly loopholes in our gun laws; and to increase federal support for gun violence victims, survivors, and their families . And in 2022, he signed into law the most consequential package of gun violence prevention policies in 30 years.
It is possible to overcome gun lobby obstruction and implement proven-effective solutions to finally free America from gun violence, but it will take a leader who knows what it means to be dedicated to the fight to save lives, who cares for survivors and communities affected by gun violence.
Donald Trump is not that leader – quite the opposite, he’s the gun lobby’s dream politician. The NRA spent $30 million to elect him in 2016 and despite their flailing financials, the gun lobby will surely take up the mantel and do whatever they can to elect Trump to do their deadly bidding in 2024. Brady is already fighting as strongly as possible to make sure it doesn’t happen – that’s why we need to know where you stand right now:
