Do you know what it means to have pure blood?

[link removed] In Harry Potter, the pure bloods didn't have any muggles or non-wizards in their bloodline.

I bet you guessed that was where this was going, didn't you?

[link removed]
Unvaccinated influencers ( [link removed] ) on TikTok want to identify as pure blood.

Folks who are unvaccinated and haven't received a COVID vaccine want to be called "pure blood," a trend that started on TikTok.

Tim O'Shea ( [link removed] ) is a chiropractor ( [link removed] ) .

Anti-vaccine folks ( [link removed] ) have been talking about this kind of thing for a long time.

What Does It Mean to Have Pure Blood?

But this isn't just about unvaccinated folks who survived COVID having a code name.

They don't want any chance that their so-called pure blood gets mixed up with any part of a COVID vaccine.

How would that happen if they aren't vaccinated?

[link removed] Just what we need. A new vaccine conspiracy!

Shedding!

[link removed] There is no risk to pure bloods from so-called vaccinated blood.

They are even worried about vaccinated blood!

[link removed] A law to segregate blood donations ( [link removed] ) and keep their blood pure? Where have we seen ideas about blood purity ( [link removed] ) before?

Some folks have even skipped getting a transfusion ( [link removed] ) because they were so worried about getting vaccinated blood that wasn't pure.

> "A New Zealand court has taken temporary custody of a sick baby whose parents stopped the child having life-saving heart surgery because potential blood donors may be vaccinated against COVID-19."
>
> New Zealand court takes custody of sick baby from anti-COVID vaccine parents

Yes, parents have even fought to keep their kids from getting potentially life-saving transfusions ( [link removed] ) because they were worried about vaccinated blood.

Can You Test for Vaccinated Blood?

But couldn't we test for vaccinated blood and create a separate donor blood supply if we wanted to?

> "There is no existing test that can determine whether a blood donation comes from an individual who has received a COVID-19 vaccine."
>
> Vaccinations and Blood Donation

What would you test for?

You are probably thinking mRNA from the COVID vaccines ( [link removed] ) , but this is quickly broken down. Despite what some anti-vaccine folks say, this mRNA ( [link removed] ) is broken down in a few days and doesn't stick around for weeks or months in our blood.

But what about the studies that find mRNA after COVID vaccination after weeks or months? These are leftover mRNA fragments and won't work to make spike proteins or anything else.

Myths about the Dangers of Vaccinated Blood

Should you have any concern about vaccinated blood?

Or that COVID vaccines are contaminating our blood supply ( [link removed] ) ?

Of course not, blood is blood, and our blood supply is well screened to make sure it is safe.

There are no extra dangers just because blood might be from someone who had a COVID vaccine.

Worried that spike proteins might be in your vaccinated blood?

[link removed] How many people died ( [link removed] ) because some folks made getting a COVID vaccine political?

You know who else has might have spike proteins in their blood?

Anyone who has had COVID! Just like anyone who has had COVID will likely have COVID antibodies in their blood ( [link removed] ) , even if they were unvaccinated.

> "Studies suggest that directed donations may carry greater risk of transmitting infectious diseases than the general blood supply. In addition, the selection of blood or blood components based on donor characteristics that are not supported by scientific evidence might delay or interfere with appropriate medical intervention and life-saving blood transfusion."
>
> Important Information About Directed Blood Donations that are Not Medically Indicated

And surprisingly, directed donor blood typically isn't safer than our general blood supply!
