People in Italy feel devastated by the COVID-19 crisis. As they lose more doctors and citizens each day, the country faces an almost complete shut down. With the healthcare system now overwhelmed and medical supplies running short, workers are forced to reuse their protective masks.
Thanks to your generous support, UntoTM was mobilized to relieve their suffering and offer hope at just the right time.
Together with local partners in Rome, we supplied surgical masks to the local Red Cross. With the approval of the mayor, the masks also went to people delivering food to the elderly, the immunocompromised, law enforcement officers, and healthcare workers.
Our partners said of the masks, “We cannot thank you enough for this huge blessing ... We pray that they will bless and protect people but also shine the light of Christ ...”
A slogan currently circulating throughout Italy, “Andra’ Tutto Bene,” means “Everything will be okay.” The masks were distributed with a card containing the slogan and a pamphlet that shares about the eternal hope of Jesus.
Unto also partnered with Inner City NYC, another Cru® ministry, to provide hygiene items to people unable to access these necessities. Inner City’s partner churches in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Harlem, and Queens distributed these supplies to their neighbors and met an immediate physical need — but they also expressed the kindness of Jesus which helps them build long-lasting relationships in their communities.
As aid is being sent to Italy, New York, and other international and domestic locations, distributions continue to reveal hope in these seemingly hopeless times. Because of your generosity, people who are suffering are being told, “Everything is going to be ok.”
