I was born and raised in a small, rural town. My family relied on government assistance to get by.

I've never forgotten the hardships my family faced.

I saw my grandmother ration her heart medication. And I watched my father ration his blood thinner medication. All because they couldn’t afford the high price of their medicine.

For too long, politicians in Washington have served their special interest donors and ignored people like us.
