We are deeply saddened to announce that yesterday, we lost one of our best, Sandi Mayer, the former Morristown Council President and Chairwoman of our Jewish Caucus.
Sandi was a fierce fighter, even once publicly vowing to be "hell in heels" to push for what she believed was right in her community. She spoke out against antisemitism; overdevelopment; and gun violence. She was a passionate speaker at rallies for women's rights and for saving our democracy. Sandi was elected in 2019, flipping the Republican-held Ward 4 seat. She was elected by her peers as the Council Vice President in 2022 and Council President in 2023. She served as council liaison to the Morristown Parking Authority and was an active member of the Friends of Foote’s Pond Wood; the Morris County Democratic Committee Women’s Caucus; and Moms Demand Action For Gun Sense in America. She was proud of helping to make improvements at Lidgerwood Park and Foote’s Pond Wood, as well as a revitalization study for Burnham Park.

Sandi was also a softie and a fierce friend to many. She was kind-hearted and loyal. Her sense of humor and wit, especially on social media, were sharp and funny. Sandi was always there to support her neighbors, friends, constituents and the Morris County Democratic Committee. We will miss her tremendously.
Information about service arrangements will be posted when available. Meanwhile, please join us in mourning for Sandi, who left big heels to fill. |
