Dear John,
We’ve learned of some devastating losses in our community this week. We are bracing for further grief as this pandemic intensifies. Even though we’re physically apart, we can grieve and celebrate trans community together.
Please join us on Facebook live today at 2pm PT/ 5pm ET for a community call to hold our grief alongside one another. Erica Woodland of National Queer and Trans Therapists of Color Network will be facilitating the call. We'll also be joined by Cecilia Gentili of Trans Equity Consulting, who will help us remember recently passed trans elder Lorena Borjas.
We are creating a virtual space for the people we have already lost to this crisis. We invite you to share names and photos of people you want to commemorate as well as expressions of grief, joy, and rage we may be feeling at this time. Even if you can’t join, we welcome you to share names of people you have lost, and who you wish to honor and commemorate in the comments of this link.
Every Friday, we’ve been gathering on Facebook live to connect with each other. Last week, following the launch of our Trans Agenda for Liberation, a brilliant panel of Black trans women and Black trans femmes on the frontlines of the pandemic shared their inspiring work. You can watch the recording of that panel here.
Together in the movement,
Kris and the TLC team
