Samara* plans to open a flower shop someday soon. Like the plants she hopes to sell, this resilient survivor is blossoming with the help of caring people like you.
Just a few years ago, Samara was forced into commercial sexual exploitation by a man she met online. He began a romantic relationship with her, only to betray her trust. He then used emotional manipulation and violence to control her as he trafficked her in Romania and the United Kingdom.
After many years of exploitation, the traffickers decided Samara was no longer profitable for them. They kicked her out with nowhere to go. But thanks to friends like you, John, she found help when she needed it most.
Please give your support today. Help restore more survivors like Samara and work to bring abusers to justice.
After she returned home to Romania, your help enabled IJM to offer her legal and medical services, access to therapy, material support and professional training courses. Your support also helped empower Samara to testify in the human trafficking trial. The perpetrators were sentenced to up to five years in prison, and the court ordered moral damages in the form of compensation for Samara.
Most importantly, friends like you helped Samara find renewed faith and hope.“If I was still with [the trafficker] now, I would be either sold or dead,” she told us. “God was by my side. God protected me.”
