Our 2023 accomplishments – thanks to your support   Friends, Creating lasting solutions to complex societal issues takes expertise and hard work over many years. Our 2023 annual report celebrates our wins along that journey. With your support, we reached 4,404 children and families through individual assistance last year: Through our direct legal work, we spot and address the most pressing issues facing a child’s family, health and education: For Da’Von,* we helped secure stable housing when he aged out of foster care at 21. For Marta, we made sure the landlord fixed the mold in her home that was making her sick. For Kiarra, we connected her to a therapist who helped treat her anxiety and depression. We learned from their experiences – and the experiences of thousands of other children and families we met last year – and used that learning to advocate for systemic reforms and expand our partnerships. Whether it’s adding lawyers to more health care clinics or advocating for an ombudsperson for children who can better meet the needs of those in foster care, we’re partnering with families, medical providers and community leaders to address the challenges facing DC children.
